Baby Shower Centerpieces

When we think about baby shower centerpieces, the first thing that comes to mind are basic floral arrangements.

But it’s really very simple to create centerpieces that are more original and from the supplies that are already needed at the baby shower, for possibly less expense than a floral or paid for centerpiece.

Start Making Your Own Baby Shower Centerpieces

I’ve put together some easy to make centerpiece ideas for your baby shower that can be assembled from items that are easy to purchase at your local florist, supermarket, party shop, and baby store.

They won’t take you any time to create, and will have all of your guests hoping that they will be lucky enough to get to take one home. ( great Idea for prizes)

Votive Candles

If you were having a sit down dinner or simply need decorations to place around the room, you can take baby jars of food and wrap them in gold, silver, or colored foil.

Tie a coordinating ribbon around the base of the jar so it will be away from the flame. Then, set a votive candle on top. After the candles have burned, the expectant parents can take the baby food home.

Welcome Signs As Decorations

If the couple knows the name of the baby or for an adopted baby shower, take white cloth or disposable diapers, fold them into triangles, and with a magic marker write the baby’s name. Then, use colored clothespins to hang the diaper welcome signs around the room.

Baby Tub Punch

Today, you can find baby bathtubs designed as ducks, whales, and other fun animals and shapes. Before giving the bathtub to the expectant parents, use it as decoration or set a bowl of punch in for the guests.

In addition to using the tub for punch, you can place gifts or baby shower favors inside. This idea creates a unique baby shower decoration and fun table for the shower.

Festive Table

You can visit most in-person or online baby websites and purchase small confetti shaped like babies, ducks, flowers, etc. For the center of the table, choose a clear hurricane globe about eight inches tall. Spray paint dried Lima beans using colors to match the theme of the shower and then after dry, fill the globe.

Wrap coordinating ribbon around the base and sprinkle the confetti around the table mingled with Hershey kisses.

Lollipops As Baby Shower Centerpieces

Whether making your own or buying one from an online company you will find beautiful centerpieces made from lollipops. To make one, use a cone-shaped foam base and simply push the stick of the lollipops in, making sure they are secure.

Then, with small pieces of colored foil or tissue paper cut into one-inch squares and a small pointed knife, push the knife into the center of the foil/paper between the spaces of the lollipops. Be sure to push it in just until it stays, creating filler so the foam is not seen.

To finish the baby shower centerpiece, use a plush baby toy for the top and ribbon around the base. Another option is to place a piece of foam inside a metal bucket, as shown in the photograph.

Stroller Display As Decoration

If someone has purchased the couple a baby stroller, rather than wait to set it up, have it displayed and filled with all of the other wrapped baby gifts.

Napkin Rings And Place Mats

For a unique decorative place setting, create placements out of plain white or printed diapers. Then, use the hole on the end of pacifiers with ribbon tied through as napkin rings. This setup is very cute and when done eating, the items can be given to the mother-to-be.

Baby Shower Topiaries

Purchase inexpensive clay planters about six to eight inches in diameter. Paint the planters a pastel color or baby shower themed color and then sponge on stencils of baby motifs. Next, set a foam ball inside of each planter, placing a 10-inch wooden dowel rod into the center.

Add another foam ball on top of the dowel and using miniature roses from your local hobby store, push them into the top foam until covered. A great baby shower decoration.

Finally, using a hot glue gun, attach dainty bows in pink, yellow, or blue ribbons. Then on the very top of the topiary, attach a larger bow that has trailing ribbon to dangle down one side. To enhance the planters, use wide ribbon with a baby design and hot glue to decorate the rim.

Condiments

If you are having an outside barbecue or casual meal for the baby shower, use baby bottles to hold the ketchup and mustard. (Be sure to cut the hole on the nipple larger but too large so the condiments squeeze out smoothly)

Watermelon Carriage

If you are crafty and creative, buy a watermelon and cut it in the shape of a baby carriage or bassinet. Scoop out the watermelon into balls, drain the juice, and then refill it with the balls along with fresh grapes, oranges, and apples. In addition to looking great, the fruit is healthy and delicious.

Baby Christmas Tree

If the baby shower will be around Christmas, buy an inexpensive miniature white tree, decorate it with miniature twinkling lights, and then use baby items as decorations such as spoons, rattles, teething rings, pacifiers, booties, etc.

Keep in mind that if the shower is large, you can go with a full-size tree, as shown here. If you nave an artificial tree, simply pull it out of the closet and use it for the shower. The look is great and the tree functional.

Candy And Nut Holders

Purchase baby motif fabric and cut out six-inch squares. Fold the fabric into the shape of a diaper. Take miniature gold safety pins, tie a small piece of coordinating ribbon through the hole, and then make a knot. Pin the fabric together with the pins, filling each with candy, mints, or nuts. Set at each place setting or in the middle of the plates.

Baby Wreath

Purchase a foam or straw wreath at your local flower or hobby store. For the foam wreath, cover it with colored foil or fabric and for the straw wreath, use it as is. With coordinating ribbon, secure it from the top to the bottom of the wreath, securing the loose ends onto the backside. Then, simply attach small baby items and toys to the wreath for decoration.

Baby Bears

Using actual stuffed bears, dress them up as babies with diaper and clothes. Set the bears in the center of the tables, tying a helium or Mylar balloon to each hand or foot. This adorable centerpiece adds a touch of warmth and whimsy.

Bottle Place Cards

For sit down baby showers, take clear baby bottles and fill them with various types of colorful candy (Sweet Tarts, M&Ms, Gummy Bears, Hershey Kisses, etc. Then with a stick on name label, write the name of each guest and place the bottle where they should be seated, using the bottles as a place card for your baby shower.

To have a memorable shower for our young kids, as you said floral center piece embellishments are the best options. As floral centerpieces seem to be eye catchy for any decoration I could appreciate your views to have flowery centerpieces. Even your decorative ideas on strollers, festive tables, etc were too good too. Keeps this good work going!

  6. For a baby shower party… You can used bathtubs as your decorations before giving it to the expected parents.

You can practically use anything if you’ve managed to put the word “baby” in front of it, don’t you think? I just love baby showers, even as ridiculous as they can be. Though, I can’t think of a more rewarding or exciting experience then a newborn.

Thanks for all the great tips! My best friend’s mom and I are throwing my best friend Stacy a baby shower and we started getting overwhelmed once we realized we know nothing about throwing baby showers! We’re selecting what we want to do from your site, however what would say is the most essential part of a baby shower (other than the gifts, of course)?

  9. These are all great ideas, but don’t forget old fashioned flowers in a baby themed vase. You can usually find vases in the shape of baby carriages or little shoes. Gebera daisies are my favorite for anything to do with babies, they are so cheerful and if you don’t know the sex of the little one to come then white daisies with yellow centers are ideal. Add some of those flower picks which have a fork for a gift card and you can attach small items to them. Women often get a bit depressed in late pregnancy when it is difficult to move around and they may be feeling uncomfortable and a bit aprpehensive. Cheerful flowers they can keep on view help.
