Games To Play At Baby Showers
After everyone’s been introduced to one another and had their fill of hors d’oeuvres, it’s time to start the baby shower games.
Baby Shower hosts are always in search of new games to play at baby showers to keep things light and entertaining, and planning a full slate of games helps break the ice between party guests who are meeting each other for the first time. Here are some inexpensive and fun ideas to try out:
- Guess the Size of Mommy’s Tummy.
All you need to play this classic baby shower favorite is yarn and scissors. Each guest unravels a length of yarn that she believes will fit perfectly around the expectant mother’s tummy and cuts it using the scissors. Then, the guest whose yarn comes closest to fitting perfectly wins a prize. - Name The Baby Food.
Remove the labels from a selection of different baby foods and ask the party guests to guess what kind of food is in each jar. The guest with the most correct guesses wins a prize. In the event of a tie, you can have a fun tiebreaker by blindfolding the deadlocked participants, feeding them spoonfuls of food and having them guess what kind of food it is. Continue until one participant guesses correctly and the other doesn’t. - Drink from the Milk Bottle.
This one is a surefire hit with any crowd. You’ll need a baby bottle for each guest and a stop watch. Fill the baby bottles with milk and give the participants an allotted amount of time to drink as much milk as they can by sucking on the bottle the way a baby would. Between the spills and dribbles, your guests will have a blast—and the woman who drinks the most milk in the given time wins a prize. - Baby Pictures.
Have each party guest bring an unlabeled picture of themselves when they were a baby. Arrange the pictures on a display board and number them, then give your guests a pencil and a sheet of paper and have them guess which picture belongs to which guest. The player with the most correct guesses earns a prize. - Chocolate Diapers.
You’ll need about 10 diapers and 10 different candy bars to play this longtime favorite. Let the chocolate bars melt slightly, then smear their contents into the diapers. Your guests must then guess what kind of candy bar was smeared in each diaper; again, whoever gets the most guesses right wins a small prize. - Don’t Say Baby.
This is a fantastic icebreaker if you’re hosting a party where many of the guests don’t know one another. Include beaded necklaces among your baby shower favors and give one to each guest upon arrival. Tell the guests that nobody is allowed to say the word “baby” during the party. Anyone who hears another guest say “baby” takes the offender’s necklace, and the guest who collects the most necklaces by the end of the party wins a prize.
The best thing about these games is that they’re surefire hits, no matter what type of crowd you expect at the party. They’re equally playable whether the guests are younger and more liberal, older and more conservative, or a combination of the two.
Baby showers are all about having fun. These lighthearted baby shower party games are sure to get your guests laughing and well on their way to a memorable afternoon.
