3 Girly Baby Shower Theme Ideas

girly baby shower cakePlanning a baby shower can be a lot of fun. The first step is to find out what theme you will be using. The theme will influence all of your decisions, from the invitations to the decorations and even the food that you will choose. If you know that the baby will be a girl then you can have a more feminine baby shower with lots of frills and cute dolls. Here in this article, I’ll give you 3 girly baby shower themes for you to look over and decide which one is best for you.

1- Tea Party Theme

When a girl thinks ‘tea’, she thinks about bonding with her girlfriends. So using the tea theme is a marvelous idea for celebrating the arrival of the new baby. Send out invitations in the shape of a tea cup. You don’t have to use just one color scheme because this theme allows for the use of all colors. You can make the main base colors white, cream and green and add touches of all of the other colors. Or you can also make your tea party a purple baby shower. If you don’t know what color to use, simply ask the mom to be what her color of choice would be for the party.

To decorate your event, place porcelain tea pitchers and cups around the food trays on the tables. Use a variety of lilac, pink, white, yellow and green flowers of all types for the bouquets. Place finger sandwiches on towered trays. Make sugar cookies in tea cup format and decorate with a variety of different colored icing. For an inexpensive favor, wrap tea bags in tulle and tie with a satin bow. If your budget allows, another idea is to give each guest a tea cup as a favor.

2- Easter Anne Geddes

Anne Geddes is known for her stunning baby photography. So why not get creative and use her beautiful photographs to decorate your baby shower? If you’re planning your event during Easter time, you could have an Easter Anne Geddes party. To start off, send some Anne Geddes baby shower invitations to your guests at least 2 weeks prior to the celebration. You will need lots of baby dolls dressed in bunnies to spread throughout your shower. Anne Geddes has several photos in different colors but mostly she uses pink or yellow tones in her photos of ‘babies in bunnies’. You can choose to use one or the other… or both. Use ideas from a bunny themed baby shower and add charming bunny details all around your shower.

Purchase babies in bunny suits dolls to use as centerpiece decorations for the tables. Get cute toy carrots for the baby dolls to hold. Place them on a pedestal tray and surround the tray with cupcakes. The cupcakes can have pink, yellow or white icing depending on the overall decor. Have white linen table cloths and create a long strand of tiny pink or yellow roses to tape to the borders of the foods tables. Place the Anne Geddes bunny posters all throughout the shower, starting at the entrance way. For the favors, have cute mints covered with baby bunny stickers.

3- Princess Baby Shower

If you already know that the baby will be a little girl, and the expectant mommy is the romantic type, a princess themed baby shower is a perfect combination. For a unique invitation you can print out the information and roll it into a scroll and then tie with satin bow. Spray some perfume for an added touch of joy. Decorate your shower with an assortment of flowers but especially have lots of pink mini roses. Place a tiara around the flowers on each guest table.

Napkin holders can be made of pink and white pearl bracelets. Use a toy carriage as the centerpiece of one of the foods’ tables. Embelish the sweets and cake table with pink petal roses. There are many princess cut outs that can be used as wall decoratives. For favors, wrap small white candles in tulle and tie with a pink bow. Hot glue thank you tags on each favor. Keep the favors near the door to easily hand them out when guests are leaving. These tips on how to plan a baby shower will help you organize your special event.
